For this week, I will cover 4 parts on our outing at Labi. We had been to Labi before back in early 2008 and this time was a revisited. Last year was for vacation; picnic and road trip. This time our members were Chiemz, Asri, Azam, Sanul, Zali, G-Raiz, Salmi, DD, Fuze and Mur; to explore and for photo taking by Zali, Sanul and G-Raiz.
Part 1: The Forest & Hill
(Labi Revisited - Taman Rekreasi Sg. Liang)
Taman Rekreasi Perhutanan Sg. Liang, one of Belait’s place of visit. This recreational park or more likely forest reserved located at very near when you went in the Jln. Labi. It’s on the right side and you can’t missed the IN and OUT sign there. This park opened to public morning until 6.30PM. The specialties of this place were the forest, hill and the ‘swimming pool’.
Anyway, for start, at first we met up at 1030AM at usual JP parking area then left to Sg. Liang. We took a breakfast at a restaurant and then Zali, Asri & Salmi went to KB to take DD. The other team had to be at this park while waiting.
Back to the nature of land of forest and hill. Our first destination here may be simple and not really big. I thought there were only ‘swimming pool’ as attraction here but actually there was a stair which lead you up the hill and enjoyed the forest. Talking about the ‘swimming pool’, it was actually more like ‘wasai’ or spring (geyser) but the water runs and collected on a pool. The water flows from the spring to the pool (man altering) and continues down to the river to continue its natural process.
As for us, we went for the hill and forest. Without warm up and stretching, we went straight up while taking a few shots up the hills and through the forest. There used to be a deer (‘pelanduk’) mini zoo here but there were no more when we went here.
Walking on, we came onto the ‘canopy house’ or something like that. Stairs built to the big trees which lead up to the hut on top of the tree. The tree was quite tall like a tower so I called it tower. Anyway, there were bridges connecting to other hut from other trees! It was cool! However, this great facilities were not safe to be used anymore so we couldn’t climb up and took an adventure.
As you knew, we weren’t ready for adventure. We were unprepared with maps and compasses and we got lost. There were 3 intersections (4 actually on another path off the track) and we had to decide which to go. Look for sign board? Well yeah you can a sign board but only displaying a tree’s name!
Using our instinct and teamwork with each other, we forced our way with one eye close and followed the straight path then left path! In the end, we came to a stair which leads down to unknown. Given hope by a noise from kids, we went down and finally reached the ‘swimming pool’! There were a lot of people taking a bath there that time. We reunited with Salmi & others here!
Oh by the way about us got lost, it’s just a kidding. We weren’t lost. But that’s how the paths were when we were there. We went back to our car and continued deeper into the Jalan Labi. We hoped that it won’t rain and no flood. Next destination was used to be G-Raiz’s grandmother’s home. The actual reason they went for Labi trip!
